ELLALONG | This Hunter Valley garden features the latest in country luxury.

Liminal was engaged to design a garden for this new home in Ellalong, a semi-rural town nestled in the mountain ranges of the the Hunter Valley, NSW. The client wished to incorporate a large pool as the central feature of this space, to extend the alfresco area and improve the versatility of their outdoor area. Following the cut for the foundations of their new home, the slope of the back garden became apparent, initially causing concern about how they would use this space.

Liminal was able design a space that used the slope as one of the highlights of the gardens structure, providing an opportunity to naturally layer the planting and invite a journey up to the pool, which was now perfectly positioned to take in the views out to the mountain ranges beyond. The retaining required became a key focus, expanding the outdoor living spaces and allowing the integration of additional outdoor seating, built into the wall, flowing seamlessly and creating the perfect garden nook for a firepit to be enjoyed in the evenings.

Punctuated by tall palms, the journey up to the pool feels like a resort, with an all seasons undercover cabana offering the perfect place to relax and take it all in. The limestone crazy paving pool surrounds are soft underfoot with the pool incorporating a large tanning edge to complete the perfect combination of luxury.
